GENERAL GUIDELINES
File Types: Tru-Quality Printworks accepts the following file formats: .TIF, .JPG, .PDF.
CMYK Color Mode: The color mode of submitted files must be CMYK. If your files are submitted using any other color standard, such as RGB or Pantone, we will do our best to convert your files to CMYK but if we are unable to for any reason we are not responsible for the outcome of the print. Conversion from one color standard to another may cause colors to shift.
Resolution: For an image to print properly, the image must be at least 300 dots per inch (DPI) at the final output size. DO NOT try to change from a low resolution to a higher one by increasing the DPI in your imaging program.
Outlined Fonts: When submitting PDF files to us, you must convert your fonts into outlines.
Outlining eliminates the need to send fonts along your files, while maintaining a nice, crisp typeface.
Transparencies: We recommend flattening all transparencies. Transparencies generally print correctly but in some cases they will not. Files with transparencies will be accepted for printing. We may flatten any transparency or transparent object if necessary. Tru-Quality, Inc. is not responsible for the outcome of transparencies/transparent objects. Rich Black: When you want an area of solid black within a document, 100% black (K) will not result in a solid; saturated black. Instead, use Rich Black, as represented by C:50% / M:50% / Y:10% / K:100%.
Bleeds: Any time an image or color is printed to the edge of a page, it must extend at least .125" beyond the final dimensions of your job to allow for cutting variation.
More information:
Safety Zone: Text or artwork you wish to preserve must be at least .125" inside of the final dimension of your design.
Printing with borders: When using a border in your artwork, it is essential that your design use at least .25" of white space from your border to the cut line to maintain a symmetric appearance.
More information:
Minimum Line Thickness: If you are using a line border, be sure to make the line at least .25 pt. thick to assure the it prints correctly.
